Rebates & Funding

Precision Mind Psychology offers a range of payment and funding options, including Medicare rebates, NDIS-funded sessions, and WorkCover-funded treatment where appropriate.

Please note that rebates and funding arrangements depend on the type of service provided.

Medicare

Medicare rebates are available for eligible therapy sessions under the Better Access initiative when you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician.

Clients with a valid plan can generally access up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group therapy sessions per calendar year, subject to Medicare requirements.

The current Medicare rebate for a 50-minute session with a registered psychologist is $98.95 per session.

How to access a Medicare rebate

  1. Book an appointment with your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician.
  2. Discuss your mental health concerns and request a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral.
  3. Provide your referral and plan prior to your appointment, either by email or through Halaxy.
  4. After your eligible session, your Medicare rebate can be processed.

Automatic claiming through Halaxy

Precision Mind Psychology uses Halaxy, a secure practice management platform that supports automatic Medicare claiming. For eligible appointments, rebates are submitted on your behalf and are usually paid by Medicare directly into your nominated bank account.

Important Medicare note

Medicare rebates are available for therapy sessions only. Medicare rebates are not available for psychological assessments, diagnostic assessments, assessment consultation sessions, ADHD assessments, report-only services, or medico-legal work.

NDIS Funding

Precision Mind Psychology welcomes self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.

Psychology sessions may be funded through an eligible NDIS plan where the support is considered reasonable and necessary and relates to the participant’s disability and goals.

For eligible NDIS participants, sessions are invoiced to the participant or plan manager in line with the relevant funding arrangement. There is no Medicare rebate in addition to NDIS-funded sessions.

Please note that NDIS funding is separate from Medicare and cannot be claimed for the same service.

WorkCover

WorkCover-funded psychology treatment may be available where a client has an accepted workers compensation claim and psychological treatment has been approved by the insurer.

Sessions are billed in line with the relevant WorkCover WA fee schedule and approval requirements. Where applicable, reports and other insurer-requested communications may also be billed in accordance with WorkCover arrangements.

If you are attending under WorkCover, please ensure referral and insurer approval details are provided prior to your first appointment.

Assessments and Reports

Psychological assessments, including diagnostic assessments and ADHD assessments, are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Reports, letters, and other documentation prepared outside of a standard therapy session are also generally charged separately and are not Medicare rebated.

If you are unsure whether your appointment or assessment may be eligible for Medicare, NDIS, or WorkCover funding, please get in touch before booking.

For full fees, please see the pricing page.

Private Health Insurance

Some private health insurance policies may provide rebates for psychology sessions where your level of cover includes extras for psychology services.

Rebate amounts and eligibility vary between health funds and individual policies. Clients are encouraged to contact their insurer directly to confirm whether psychology is included in their cover and to check any waiting periods, annual limits, or claiming requirements.

Please note that private health insurance rebates are generally not available for psychological assessments, diagnostic assessments, report writing, or medico-legal services.

Private health insurance cannot usually be claimed for the same session as a Medicare rebate. If you are unsure which option is most suitable, please contact your insurer or get in touch prior to booking.
